Road Safety refers to the methods and measures used to prevent road users from being killed or seriously injured. Typical road users include pedestrians, cyclists. motorists, vehicle passengers, horse-riders and passengers of on-road public transport mainly buses. Under the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development Goals, road safety is one of the key goals for ensuring healthy lives and human well-being. Road safety is addressed as goal 3.6, which aims to halve the number of road traffic-related deaths by 2020. Though we Bangladeshis are developing economically and technologically, we do not develop our ethical values up to the mark, that’s why we often disobey the traffic rules.
Thus, road accident is always in the rise alarmingly in Bangladesh. As per the report, In Bangladesh, 487 people were killed in road accidents in January,2020 while the number was 540 in February. Besides, 622 and 679 people got injured in the two months respectively. According to Bangladesh Jatri Kalayn Samity, at least 7855 people were death and 7,002 others injured in 5516 accidents in 2019 until December 22.
